A physical commodity futures whose underlying is an energy commodity, for example crude oil, natural gas, electricity, gasoline, propane or heating oil.
For example, the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) offers light, sweet crude oil futures, Henry Hub natural gas futures and heating oil futures.
